Internet-Enabled IEN Magazine Powered by Digital:Convergence™ Technology
:CRQ Software Links Industrial Magazine Readers and Advertisers to Web

DALLAS, TEXAS, March 30, 2001 - Starting with its March 2001 edition, Industrial Equipment News is the first broad-based industrial publication to include :CRQ™ print-to-Web technology from Digital:Convergence Corporation. :CRQ ("See Our Cue") technology uses embedded "cues" to empower publishers and broadcasters to offer Internet-enhanced content to their audiences.

"Since we're B2B publishers, IEN always looks for tools that bring buyers and sellers together in as many ways as possible. :CRQ technology speeds up the process and drives momentum from the printed page to the Web. Early indications show that our engineering subscribers appreciate the time-saving benefit; over time, they will most likely represent the heavy users of :CRQ technology in our magazine," said IEN's publisher, Ciro Buttacavoli.

Digital:Convergence's printed cues, which look like product codes, enable IEN to link readers to targeted Web pages from both editorial content and advertising, eliminating the input of lengthy URLs and time-intensive Web navigation. Readers interested in more information on the hi-tech products profiled in the magazine's "What's Smart" section, for example, simply swipe cues with a hand-held :CueCat™ device, instantly connecting the user's browser to a related Web page.

"As a magazine with a formidable online reader service, including an already developed Order Online program, IEN is a pioneer in the B2B marketplace," says Don Welsh, president of Digital:Convergence's publishing group. "It is a great addition to our growing list of partners, including Forbes, PARADE, Gear, NBC, RadioShack, and Adweek's magazines."

Cues can be embedded in most print media and are read through :CRQ software with a :CueCat device. The :CRQ and :CueCat technologies are free to consumers. Additionally, the :CueCat device can read any UPC or ISBN, making the product instantly interactive with the Internet.
