Connecticut Traveler Is First Converged Consumer Travel Magazine
Digital:ConvergenceTM Technology Connects Connecticut Traveler to the Internet
DALLAS, March 20, 2001 - 2001 -With its January/February edition, Connecticut Traveler
magazine became the first consumer travel magazine to include :CRQTM
print-to-Web technology from Digital:Convergence Corporation in both
its editorial content and advertisements. :CRQ ("See Our Cue")
technology uses embedded "cues" to empower companies, broadcasters
and publications like Connecticut Traveler to enhance content for
consumers.
"This new technology is ideal for the travel, convention
and tourism industries, because it makes it so easy for people who
read about an attraction, restaurant, or lodging in an article or an
advertisement to immediately learn more, see colorful photos, get
prices, and even make reservations via the Internet," says Ann
Conrad, president and publisher of Connecticut Traveler
magazine.
"What
is wonderful about this technology is how users can access exactly
the information they seek, without having to search through many
different pages on a large Web site," she says. "For example, you
can scan a cue that connects you directly to a national hotel
chain's property in Hartford, instead of having to visit the
corporation's home page and then make your way through different
categories to get to the specific local information you want."
Digital:Convergence's proprietary print cues, which look like product codes, are printed directly into both editorial content and advertising, and are read with a :CueCatTM device using :CRQ software. The hand-held :CueCat device processes the cues and takes readers directly to a specific Web page designated by the publisher or advertiser, eliminating the input of lengthy URLs and time-intensive Web navigation. Both the :CRQ software and the :CueCat device are free to consumers. Additionally, the :CueCat device can read any UPC or ISBN code on a product, making it instantly interactive with the Internet.
