The Forbes Magazine Galleries and Mystic Seaport Partner to Exhibit Contemporary British Marine Paintings
Art Galleries Use :CRQTM Technology to Internet-Enhance Exhibits

NEW YORK, NY and MYSTIC, CT, March 7, 2001 - The Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport, the nation's leading gallery of contemporary marine art, and The FORBES Magazine Galleries are bringing the art of England's Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA) to America for two concurrent shows. The two entities will also join forces with Dallas-based Digital:Convergence Corporation to offer the first Internet-enhanced exhibition of contemporary marine arts by using :CRQTM print-to-Web technology to instantly connect patrons to Web sites where they can view each artist's work.

One hundred British paintings from 35 members of the elite Royal Society of Marine Artists will be on display March 8 - April 30 at The FORBES Magazine Galleries in New York City and March 10 - April 15 at The Maritime Gallery at Mystic Seaport in Mystic, Connecticut. The collection is divided between the two galleries and each will hold an opening reception for art connoisseurs, patrons, trustees, and special guests. Included with the works on exhibit at both locations, The FORBES Magazine Galleries will show six works from RSMA's Diploma Collection.

To facilitate viewing and purchasing of the artwork, both galleries are using Digital:Convergence's proprietary print "cues," which look like product codes, in the exhibition brochure. The cues are read with a hand-held :CueCatTM device using :CRQ software and will instantly link patrons to Web sites where they can view not only the paintings in the gallery they visited, but also the partner gallery, thus gaining additional exposure for both the artists and the sponsoring organizations. Both galleries will demonstrate the :CRQ software at their opening receptions, in addition to giving the technology to attending patrons.
