Adventures Debuts Internet-Enhanced Catalogs at HIA
Digital:ConvergenceTM Technology Connects the Hobby Industry to
the Internet
DALLAS,
Jan. 30, 2001 - Paper
Adventures, a leader in the B2B hobbies and crafts supply industry,
is debuting the first premium internet-enhanced paper crafts catalogs
at the Hobby Industry Association show, running through today
in Anaheim, Calif. These leading-edge catalogs, Paper Adventures
Crafts 2001, and Paper Adventures Coordinates 2001 will include
:CRQTM print-to-Web technology from Digital:Convergence Corporation
in both its editorial content and advertisements. :CRQ ("See Our
Cue") technology uses embedded "cues" to empower companies, broadcasters
and businesses like Paper Adventures to enhance content for consumers.
"Paper
Adventures has had a strong Web-minded approach for sales and
service to our customers and the end users of our products for
many years. The addition of :CRQ technology brings us to a whole
new level of service with the ability to offer real-time information,"
says Paper Adventures Vice President David Willke. "Up to now,
our catalogs were published once a year. Now product specification,
pricing and consumer product information can be updated daily.
With a :CueCat™ reader and our new 2001 catalogs, the craft retailers
hold the power of a whole new world in their hands."
Digital:Convergence's
proprietary printed cues, which look like product codes, are printed
directly into both editorial content and advertising and are read
through the :CRQ software with a :CueCat device. Approximately
the size of a computer mouse, the :CueCat device reads the cues,
, instantly linking a user's browser to a related Web page designated
by the publisher or advertiser. This eliminates the input of lengthy
URLs and time-intensive Web navigation. Both the :CRQ software
and the :CueCat device are free to consumers. Additionally, the
:CueCat device can read any UPC, EANor ISBN code on a product,
making it instantly interactive with the Internet.
"The
craft and hobby business is a highly competitive $10 billion industry,
and Paper Adventures is a forward leaning company that is the
first to have a cue-enhanced interactive catalog," says J. Jovan
Philyaw, chairman and chief executive officer, Digital:Convergence.
"They join our growing list of partners, including Forbes, PARADE,
Gear, NBC, RadioShack, and Adweek's magazines."
